The World Cup is sweeping across countries all around the world, but especially in Latin America, where passion for the sport is unrivaled—and Peru is no exception. Cusco is filled with plenty of fans, and there is no shortage of places to watch your country play. Here is a list of the best places to watch the World Cup while you’re in the former capital of the Incas.

1. Paddy's Irish Pub

Pub, Irish

It’s an Irish pub, so you might be familiar with what to expect. With three large TV screens and a great beer selection, this pub is a great place to watch any sporting event. They are proud that they’re the highest (in terms of elevation) Irish pub in the world. It’s always going to be crowded here during the World Cup, so go early to secure a seat. They also serve great food if you need a bite to eat.

2. La Fabrica Sports Bar

Bar, South American, North American

This is your typical modern sports bar: walls lined with TVs, so that each slight movement of the head will catch a new screen with a different game. They also have plenty of beer choices and food and, of course, pool and darts. It’s one of the first places that fills up on game days in Peru because of the quality and all the entertainment to entice you to stay well after the game ends.

3. Norton Rat's Tavern

Bar, American

This tavern has a classic bar feel, with numerous TVs to view while you drink. Don’t expect anything over the top at this bar, just beer and a screen. Its most distinguishing quality is its unrivaled view of the Plaza de Armas from the terrace. Norton Rat’s Tavern is great for big groups and is the perfect place to get loud for your team.

The Plaza de Armas

For the big games, the Plaza de Armas will be filled with wildly chanting fans. The city organizes a giant screen for displaying games so large crowds can cheer together. You’ll be in the thick of it with the supporters.

A party hostel

The hostel game has really risen in Cusco and every one of the city’s best and most popular ones will have a great atmosphere for the games. Cusco’s party hostels like Loki, Wild Rover, and the Point will have a collection of travelers from all over the world, which makes for great storytelling and a lively environment. Watching the game will assuredly turn into a party.

A tienda

If you really want to brush elbows with Cusqueños, head to the local tienda. These are half-bar, half-corner store and during the World Cup, the ones with a TV will be packed. This is where you’ll find Peruvian fans watching the games with friends.

4. Jack's Cafe

Cafe, Restaurant, American

Jack’s is regarded as one of Cusco’s best breakfast places, which is evidenced by the long lines to eat there. In addition to having great food, they also show all major sporting events. It’s definitely not your typical bar atmosphere, but if you want to relax with a cup of coffee and have breakfast with your World Cup, go to Jack’s Café.
