Máncora is known for a few things and chief among them is party destination. The town is frequented by gringos looking to party and Limeños eager to escape Lima‘s urban hustle. You can drink just about anywhere, but there are a few bars that rank above the rest. From feet-in-the-sand drink service to party hostels, here are the best bars in Máncora, Peru.

1. Loki Mancora

Hostel

Máncora’s biggest parties happen at Loki, especially on the weekend. You can expect to see travelers drinking side-by-side with Limeños and the locals here. Loki usually has themed weekend bashes and plays all the biggest sporting events. If you’re looking for the epicenter of parties in Máncora, this is your best bet.

2. Atelier Vino Bar

Bar, South American, French

Atelier is a great place to begin your night and grab some drinks with friends. They have daily happy hour specials that also often include food. As their name suggests, they have a great selection of Peruvian and South American wines, as well as your classic selection of Peruvian cocktails. Atelier supports its local musicians and has weekly live shows, which isn’t so common in Máncora.

3. The Point

Bar, South American

No matter what night it is, The Point will turn it into a party night. Their bar is mostly filled by those staying at the hostel, but on occasion they’ll host big events. Though their parties aren’t quite as frequented, since the bar isn’t near Máncora’s main attraction, it’s a great place to share stories with other backpackers and play some beer pong or swim in their pool.

4. Any of the beach front bars

Bar, South American

Along Mancora’a main beach front is a string of bars equipped with dance floors and large speakers blasting reggaeton music. You can’t miss them—and they won’t let you. Bar hosts will persistently show you menus and offer drinks deals. As the sun sets, the party really gets going and some of the beach tables get removed to make a larger dance area. These bars are usually the after parties of Máncora, open all night long and only closing in the early morning hours when the surfers begin to make their way to the water. Once other clubs like Loki close around 3 or 4 am, party goers head to the beach to dance until the sun comes out.

5. La Sirena d'Juan

Bar, Restaurant, Seafood, South American

La Sirena d’Juan is widely regarded as the best restaurant in Máncora—and there’s no arguments here. What people may not know is that it’s also a great place to grab some of Máncora’s best cocktails. They take their craft cocktails to the next level, incorporating exotic fruits to their pisco drinks. You can enjoy your drink in their air conditioned room on the first floor or sit on the open-air second-floor and enjoy the sights and sounds of Máncora.

6. La Tienda

Bar, South American

Just to the right of La Sirena d’Juan is this a little, nameless tienda. It isn’t a proper bar, but it is authentically Peruvian: replete with plastic chairs and tables out in front of the store which serves as their “bar” spot. These seats are reserved for those looking to sit down and pound back large bottles of Pilsen or Cristal. Tourists don’t often seem to fully appreciate the pleasures of drinking in the middle of a sidewalk, but that isn’t missed on Peruvians. Just about everyday you’ll find a foursome of locals sharing a large Pilsen outside the tienda—it’s the best beer price in town.

7. Wiracocha Restobar

Bar, South American

Right in front of Máncora’s surf break is Wirachocha. The hotel allows patrons to linger at their bar and lounge area, as long as they’re buying drinks or food. They have plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas if you’d like to day drink in the sun and an outdoor dining area. As the sun sets, they start playing music and their outdoor bar turns into a party. You’ll pay more here, but sitting at a table with your feet in sand will make up for the price you paid for your cocktail.
